As many of you are already aware, a young woman was taken by a taxi driver to an unknown location and sexually assaulted this past week-end. 

The woman entered the cab at Fullerton and Clark.  The driver has been arrested and is being held on numerous charges related to this incident.  This is an isolated incident.  The woman was able to provide an accurate description which then enabled the police to track down the offender. 

I cannot stress strongly enough the need to be alert and observant.  Create a call-back tree, whenever one person leaves your group, make sure they know to call you and confirm when they reach their destination.  Make sure you hear back from them in a timely manner.   There should always be someone awaiting your safe arrival. 

Report to my office or the Chicago Police any instance in which a taxi driver makes you feel uncomfortable.  Always note the name of the taxi company, the taxi number and, when possible, the name of the driver.  The Police and I work together on many issues regarding taxis and their service because of our entertainment areas.
