Denver’s Famous 13th Floor Hosts Alcoholic Attractions at ShriekEasy

Denver’s nightlife has gained a new consumer experience this Halloween season and it’s not what you’d expect. The Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group hosts an attraction for thrill seekers and drinkers under one roof – a haunted roof that is. The ShriekEasy Bar debuted in 2019 but was unable to complete a season in 2020 due to closures related to COVID-19. With relaxed restrictions around events this Halloween, the team can fully relax their spooky sweatshop.

The space offers an intimate cocktail menu in collaboration with Mile High Spirits, featuring three different cocktails and a fresh shot, all inspired by the franchise’s famous hauntings. The coffin crew ($ 8) is a simple Elevate Cranberry Vodka, while the Sensory overload ($ 8) includes fireside bourbon, lemonade and drops of blood. Or try it Ankle leg ($ 8) with rum cocktail, white grape, blue raspberry and lime juice.

While the menu doesn’t offer small bites, the other concept – Class Ax – in the same building has a variety of snacks, and local food trucks are often on site. If those ghostly spirits in cocktail form don’t catch your eye, the bar also serves local beers, ciders, and seltts to sip on.

Additionally, the attraction also introduced a new experience this year called the Sub-Zero Secret Bar. Its name matches the Frostbite-themed lair – a fictional cryogenics lab that has found a way to thaw superhumans until a hacker turns test subjects into killing machines. Unlike the ShriekEasy, there is no place to mingle and relax to the sound of the locals screaming. This unique bar is a misty little space that can only be accessed by means of a light stick. The hunting ticket has a $ 8 add-on available for the Sub-Zero experience (21+). Once inside the haunted house, anyone with a light stick will be removed for a quick drink.

Because Sub-Zero is an experience that occurs while visiting the Haunted House, tickets must be purchased. However, to visit the ShriekEasy, no ticket purchase is necessary. The bar is accessible without suffering from the haunted adrenaline rush.

This year marks 14 full seasons in Denver, home of The Thirteenth Floor Entertainment group. It spread to 10 states and spawned 15 homes in major cities like Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Nashville.

While navigating through zombies, killer dolls, and cryogenic test subjects gone awry can be an experience in itself, the team at Thirteenth Floor are always looking to outdo themselves.

“We wanted to make it an experience where people can relax, have a drink and make it different. Those who don’t really like haunted houses but who are accompanied can hang out and have a drink while waiting for their friends, ”said Alexandra Chiafery of Ellis Communications.

Both ShriekEasy and SubZero are located inside the Thirteenth Floor Complex at 3400 E. 52sd Avenue, Denver. It is open at the same time as the haunted attractions. Monday to Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. More information can be found online here.
