Small Business Saturday Holiday Craft Market in Mattoon | Entertainment

The market, now known as the Smalltown Saturday Showcase, was previously held on the first Saturday after Veterans Day in the Lone Elm Hall of the train depot, but will now be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 27 in the Burgess- Auditorium Osborne Memorial, 1701 Wabash Ave.

“The Arts Council already has (around 20) Artisan Vendors registered and hopes to have more. Typically we could only accommodate 10 vendors in the Lone Elm room. So we changed it to a new name, a new location and an opportunity to support art, ”said Julia Degler, arts coordinator.

Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday celebrating local retailers and merchants. This event takes place every year immediately after Thanksgiving and the unofficial Black Friday shopping day during one of the busiest shopping times of the year.

Smalltown Saturday Showcase artisans will be donating bowls and comforters, hand-painted cookware, paints, baked goods, homemade jams and barbecue sauces, soaps, custom blended dry tea, candles beeswax, craft dog treats, fabric items, resin ornaments, melted wax and candles, photos and calendars, gourd art, crochet items, license plate art, woodworking, recycled items, leatherworking, ceramics, ornaments and more.

“We are always accepting art sellers / artists / artisans specializing in handmade / handmade items to complete our online application,” Degler said. “We have a great variety and are delighted to have an event to provide the opportunity to sell their items.”
